Almarai price hike: Saudi Consumer Protection body refutes firm’s reasoning

Saudi Arabia’s Consumer Protection Association responded to the recent Almarai Company’s statement in which it mentioned that an increase in prices in some of its dairy products came after an increase in production costs represented in energy, transportation and importing feed and labor.

“The association, out of its responsibility to protect consumers from increasing prices, asserts that what Almarai had mentioned in its statement is vague, inaccurate and had no details. The production costs mentioned in the statement had not changed recently, especially diesel, which is the main component for operating the machines for production and the main fuel for transportation and distribution,” the statement read.
